NEW YORK CELEBRATES 101st International Women’s Day

Join us to HONOR THE SPIRIT OF WOMEN  March 8th 2012

International Women’s Day is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8th, to mark the economic, political and social accomplishments of women. Its roots go back to the birth of the women’s rights movement in the U.S. and Europe. Women worldwide gather to acknowledge both our progress and struggles, and to celebrate extraordinary women who have played an important role in history.

As Americans and New Yorkers, we have many reasons to celebrate women, their history, spirit and accomplishments. In other regions of the world, practices like dowry, female infanticide, violence and discrimination against women remain commonplace.
